We start our 30th walk at 9:00am on Saturday May 23rd 2009 in....

The Nightingale Walk was founded in 1979 to help raise funds for local and international charities. The current route, which is now a mere 20 miles in total, is very picturesque with winding paths and trails along the River Thames from Walton-On-Thames to the Putney Embankment.

Each year hundreds of dedicated walkers of all ages start from the Station car park at Walton-On-Thames and make their way along the Thames to the finish line, in 2008 alone we have raised over £30,000.

We will start our 30th Nightingale Walk on 23rd May 2009 @09:00am from the car park at Walton-On-Thames railway station and finish between varied times 5 - 8 hours later in the day in Putney just before Putney Bridge.

2009 marks our 30th year anniversary. We welcome both old and new faces while continuing to support our local charities and international organisations.

Keris & Lee who you will find behind the bar at the Nightingale Pub

The Nightingale is a small 1850's Youngs house between Balham and South Battersea. It's almost the oldest building around there and hasn't changed much, so it's like a traditional country pub.

They won London's first 'Pubs with a Heart' contest and then got barred out of fairness to others! Same with CAMRAs 'South West London Pub of the Year' right back in the 80s.

"Raising money for charity in the Nightingale Pub has been our passion for the last 30 years. Collecting the money can be difficult but it's worth the effort. The involvement of a few families is helping to sustain the Nightingale Walk and seeing the younger generation coming through is wonderful.

I would like to thank my own family and all walkers and helpers past and present for keeping up the tradition of the Nightingale Walk." - the Chairman Sept 2008

Now in its 30th Anniversary Year we intend to invite back as many past walkers and charities supported to participate and to share in this amazing event.

Planning the event has already started, but we would appreciate any new ideas for 2009. Please let any of the Committee members, via our Contact Page, know of any ideas you might have to share in making this special year the best Walk ever !
